Int/Adv Harold Improv Workshop @ Impact Hub Honolulu

This workshop will focus on the tools and technique of the Harold form. How to effectively generate ideas in your openings, creating fun first beats and then exploring the game differently in second beats, and experimenting with form in group games.

This class is 3 hours long.

Prerequisite:

Must be familiar with the Harold form

About The Instructor:

Ann Maddox has been writing and performing at Upright Citizens Brigade Theater Los Angeles since it opened in 2005. She has performed improv with her Harold team Lincoln’s Bedroom, and written sketches for her Maude teams Nice Kitchen and Hot Mess. She wrote radio sketches for Marketplace on NPR and was a writer/performer for the 2011 CBS Diversity Showcase. She has appeared in several national and regional commercials, and television shows such as The Office, Two Broke Girls, Garfunkle and Oates, The Birthday Boys and Grandfathered.

Intro to Sketch Comedy Writing @ Impact Hub Honolulu
Aug 22 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

This workshop will go over basics of sketch writing. Examples of sketches will be shown and discussed, and students will pitch their own ideas as well as brainstorm possible beats. If time permits, you may leave with a fully written sketch! Participants should come prepared with a notebook and pen/pencil, a laptop or tablet.

This class is 3 hours long.

Prerequisite:

No experience required

Thoroughly Modern Biggie (ImprovHI’s musical comedy troupe) will be doing some make ’em ups at this year’s Improvaganza! Join them on Saturday, October 5th as they make up a musical montage based off an interview with a stranger from the audience.

The festival will also feature many other AMAZING improv comedy acts from Honolulu, Los Angeles and even Alaska!!
