Hawaii’s TV and Film Industry is constantly growing! Now’s the time to prepare yourself to do your best work.
Hawaii born actors, Kimee Balmilero and Sarah Halford, will be running two classes that are sure to have you feeling extra ready for your next audition and gig. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a complete newbie, both workshops are the perfect spaces for you to get your game on point.
CLASS LOCATION-
All Classes are held on Mondays at the Manoa Innovation Center (next to the Manoa Marketplace on Woodlawn)
CLASS TIMES-
Improv Acting runs from 6pm-7pm
TV/Film Acting runs from 7pm-9pm

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS-
Improv Acting Class: This all level class allows students to practice the essentials of long-form improv. Students will learn to build scenes by “yes, and”-ing, activate their listening, support their scene partners and to play in the reality to create fun and comedic improvised scenes. Students will play and learn in a safe, non-judgmental environment. No previous experience required. ALL ARE WELCOME!
TV/Film Acting Class: In this class, students will learn about the world of Acting in Television. Through cold reading auditions, script analysis and scene work, actors will learn essential tools to aid them in the business of acting. Students will learn how to create emotional truth on camera in a safe, non judgmental environment. All levels welcome!
INSTRUCTOR BIOS-
About The Instructor: Hawaii born actor, Kimee Balmilero professional credits include: The 3X Emmy Nominated TV series “Hi-5,” the Original Broadway Cast of “Mamma Mia,” and Dr. Noelani Cunha in “Hawaii Five-0.” While working in NYC and LA for 15+ years, she studied improv and sketch comedy at the famed Uprights Citizens Brigade Theatre. A member of the award winning sketch comedy troupe “Drug Puppy”, Kimee has performed at such venues as: UCB in LA, Second City-Hollywood, iO West, Radio City Music Hall and the Kodak Theater.
Now living back in Hawaii since 2012, you can catch Kimee performing sketch & improv comedy and teaching improv to kids and adults in Kaka’ako and around the island. She is the founder and “Head Sillypino” of improvhi.com a website dedicated to sketch and improv comedy in Hawaii. Kimee is also the creator and producer of the first ever Hawaii Sketch Comedy Festival.
Kimee made her directorial debut with the Hawaii Premiere of “Mamma Mia” at the historial Diamond Head Theatre.
About The Instructor: Sarah Halford is a Hawaii-born artist who has been acting professionally in Los Angeles for the last few years. She holds her Masters in Acting from one of the top grad schools in the country, UC San Diego. While in Los Angeles, she starred as Heather Chandler in the world premiere of Heathers: The Musical. Other professional TV and Film Credits include: “Anger Management,” “Cristela,” “Road Hard,” with comedian Adam Carolla, and numerous national commercials. Sarah has had experiences testing for top network pilots, and circulating with the most prominent casting directors in Los Angeles and New York. Since moving home, she was featured in the Hawaii premiere of Mamma Mia! at Diamond Head Theatre, and received a Po’okela award for her performance. She is passionate in investing in other actors and creating a network of strong local artists.

Improvised Musical! @ Arts at Marks

Improv Hawaii’s “(BLANK): The Musical“ is a fully improvised musical comedy featuring local Hawaii celebrities. “Hawaii Five-0” actor Dennis Chun will star in “Dennis Chun: The Musical” on Saturday, May 6th at The Artst at Marks Garage.

The musical comedy is described as a combination of a hit Broadway musical and the popular improv TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” She continued, “Everything from the music to the dance moves to the song lyrics are completely made up, so this will be audience’s only chance to see this particular show.”
